Check if your application can use Pulse Insights

Pulse Insights is currently not suitable for authenticated sites or single page applications.

Authenticated sites

Pulse Insights scans pages available from Pulse, and currently only public pages are scanned.

Single page applications

Although Pulse is suitable for single page applications, the Pulse Insights metrics will not currently give an accurate picture of your single page application.

How to set up Pulse Insights if you're a new user:

Welcome to Raygun! To start using Pulse Insights, you first need to enable Pulse.  Pulse Insights only scans your site's public pages if they are found in Pulse.

  1. First, sign up for Raygun
  2. Set up your JavaScript application - Pulse and Pulse Insights are currently only available on applications using JavaScript
  3. Activate Pulse by clicking on the 'Pulse' item on your Raygun app sidebar:

  1. Once you've added the necessary code snippets, check that the data is flowing into Pulse
  2. Enable Pulse Insights by clicking on 'Insights' under the Pulse heading in the sidebar:

  1. Wait for the scan to complete
  2. View the failed rules and take action!

How to use Pulse Insights if you already have Pulse:

If you already have Pulse enabled, you can start using Pulse Insights immediately.

  1. Activate Pulse by clicking on the 'Pulse' item on your Raygun app sidebar:

  1. Start a scan of your site by clicking the 'Enable Pulse Insights' button:

  1. View the failed rules and take action

Implement the recommendations so failed rules will pass on the next scan.

You can also mark rules are passed if you have fixed an issue, or choose to ignore rules you don’t care about.

How to enable Pulse if you have Crash Reporting:

If you have Crash Reporting but not Pulse, you first need to have Pulse enabled to use Pulse Insights. Pulse Insights only scans your site's public pages if they are found in Pulse.

  1. Activate Pulse by clicking on the 'Pulse' item on your Raygun app sidebar:

  1. If your Raygun provider is already JavaScript, then insert this short code snippet to your code:

 rg4js('enablePulse', true);

For more context about where you would add this, view the Pulse set up documentation.

  1. If your Raygun provider is another language, you will need to add all the JavaScript code snippets
  2. Once you've added the necessary code snippets, check that the data is flowing into Pulse
  3. Enable Pulse Insights by clicking on 'Insights' under the Pulse heading in the sidebar:

  1. Wait for the scan to complete
  2. View the failed rules and take action!
