Feature Request

JIRA integration via API

Current Status:

Completed

Hi there,

it is great to see that there is progress with the integration of other services. However JIRAs integration is kind of not-good-to-use:

  1. Currently you have to place real login information in raygun.io
  2. "Create new issue" doesn't seem to work, at least for me, saying "valid issue type is required"

Zendesk for example has a neat integration via JIRAs API which allows to create and link issues without a problem and without the need to tell raygun someones real login information.

This would, in my eyes, be a huge improvement.

Cheers

I completely agree. I won't use the JIRA integration if I need to put my credentials into Raygun. There must be better ways to do this using their API.

Same here, if it were possible to use some kind of API key, that would be better (of course that can only works if Jira supports that as well).

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your feedback about the JIRA integration via API issue. We’ve listened to our customers who were wary about sharing JIRA authentication details with third party tools and late last year had delivered a great update that solves this problem for users using (or wanting to use) JIRA + Raygun to keep on top of errors in their JIRA accounts.

You can find the details about the solution on this blog post: https://raygun.io/blog/2015/09/using-oauth-for-more-secure-jira-integrations/

As always, please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything else we can do to make Raygun easier for you :)

Cheers,

@Zheng Li I don't think this is really a proper solution. The new integration only works for *.atlassian.net, not on-premises installations, so it's really only a half solution I think.

Also, it doesn't seem to work if you have multiple applications in Raygun that you want to hook up to the same JIRA.

@frederik - There's a few security issues around allowing custom domains in an OAuth flow - but we do have plans to look at this and figure out a better solution. Will keep you up to date!

@Alec - We've made a small change recently that helps with this. JIRA didn't allow duplicate application names, which is fair enough. If you find it's still not right, let us know and I look into it again.

Regards, Daniel

If Raygun is going to continue to work on making API integration available for on-prem JIRA instances, will this feature request be re-opened?
