Current Status:
Completed

We use JIRA for our issue tracking - would it be possible to create a plug into this?

Just waiting for our designer to spruce up the icon and way that it appears in the app -- the rest is done :-)
Hopefully we'll get this released this week for you :-)
Kind regards,

Hi,
I tried setting this up in a Raygun application today, but it doesn't seem to be working. Do you have any documentation or advice for troubleshooting?
Thanks!

Hi Bob,
Ive had a quick check and your settings look fine however there appears to be an error occurring in communication with your JIRA instance so I will need to debug this and look into the problem. Ill update this once we have tracked down whats occurring here.

Thanks Jeremy! Do I need to allow anything in Jira?

Hi Jeremy,
Just wanted to touch base with you. Any luck discovering why this isn't working? We thought it may have been a required custom field in our Jira workflows, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I disabled the required field and still no go. Also, the "Link to existing issue" feature seems to no longer work at all.
Thanks!
Bob

Hi Bob,
Sorry no luck in tracking down whats going on here. It appears a timeout is occurring in fetching the data for that list so I am still investigating.
Will update you once we have made some progress here.

Hi Bob,
Quick update on this. Ive added in some additional tracking at our end to try and debug this further - could you recheck to see if the problems you were seeing before are still present and if possible could you email me with a series of steps I can use to check this via your account if this is still the case.
Thanks!

Hi Jeremy,
At this point, if I click the "Link to existing issue" button, nothing happens at all. I can see some small traffic in Fiddler when I click the button, but nothing seems to ever happen. Earlier, an empty drop down at least appeared.

Hi Bob,
At our end we are seeing a timeout fetching the issue data from your JIRA server when you are seeing nothing happen on the Link to Issue button. It appears this is intermittent and Ive tried it a couple of times today, most of the time it is able to fetch the list fairly quickly, other times it does indeed timeout (as does calling to the API which we use for fetching issues via a browser). So I am thinking we could add in some additional UI here to help indicate its doing something and report an issue on timeout.
Is there any reason why we might not be able to contact your server or is it under heavy load which might affect the response times?

Hi Jeremy,
I've been working with our network administrators and everything appears to be fine on our end. I'm not seeing any evidence of long request times on the Jira box or any timeouts. Additionally, the reverse proxy logs do not appear to pick up any traffic when I click on either button in Raygun. Perhaps we should take this troubleshooting to email? I'd prefer to not discuss set up details here.
Thanks!
Bob

So I +1'd this suggestion before I read that it has already been implemented. Go your team~!
But maybe it isn't fully working YET?

Raygun documentation is a bit lean, ain't it?! :)
- What permissions does the Jira user need for this plugin to work?
- 'Link to existing issue' produces an empty drop-down. Being empty is a bug or configuration issue I presume, but being a drop-down is a UX issue. Could we make that an auto-complete type free text field? Most of the time I'm going to know the code and just want to paste in PP-461 so that would be a mean feature.
- Perhaps on the plugin settings page there could be a [Test] button and that would be a good place to spit out some digaostics. eg. Couldn't find Jira at that URL, Couldn't authenticate with Jira with those details, That Jira user doesn't have XYZ permission which it needs to access that project. Etc...

We currently have the Raygun user set up with the same permissions as other people who can manually add new items. I've logged into my Jira instance as that user, and created a bug, as well as browse our backlogs. Everything on that end seems to be fine.

Nup, no joy getting this thing configured. Error when clicking 'Create new issue'
Something went wrong! Here is what your Jira server returned: Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: <. Path '', line 9, position 1.
Not ideal.

We are currently evaluating raygun and are running into the same error. the dropdown box is empty and "create new issue" produces "Something went wrong! Here is what your Jira server returned: Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: <. Path '', line 0, position 0."

Hi all,
We're looking into this error. I've created it as an issue on our forum since this is the feature request section of the site and folks who voted previously will be getting notifications they don't likely care about.
Lets continue the conversation over here: http://raygun.io/forums/thread/5933#5932
We'll update that thread when it's resolved (hopefully not too challenging to fix).
I hope that helps,
