dSYM upload not working

The dSYM upload function for iOS apps doesn't seem to work, when I drag a file in to the box (or use the select file button) and select my zip file, nothing happens. The upload doesn't start and I never see the dSYM file show up in the list below. Is something up with that function?

This is for the web uploader in the dSYM Center at app.raygun.io? If you could let us know your browser + version and which release of OS X you're running we'll take a look into it.

As an aside, we also offer a native OS X tray application for automatically watching & uploading new dSYMs called Raygun Sidekick - you may like to try it as it's an alternative to uploading via the web app. This can be downloaded from here: http://assets.mindscape.co.nz/raygun-sidekick/0.1/RaygunSidekick.dmg

Regardless, we'll look into making sure the uploader works with your browser/os combo.

I first tried it on Safari 7.0.3, and then when it didn't work tried it on Chrome 35.0.1916.86 beta. I can try it on production Chrome too if you think that would help. The betas are usually surprisingly error-free. This is on OS X 10.9.2.

I did consider the uploader app, and may end up using that in the future.

Hm, there might be something going on here as we just managed to upload a dSYM with 10.9.2 and Safari 7.0.3. How large is the file you were uploading?

Note that the upload box also accepts unzipped dSYM files as well as xcarchive files which contain a single dSYM. Please try uploading a non-zipped dSYM and let us know how you get on.

Uploading the unzipped file actually did work, but you still may have an issue. I took a screencast of the issue, I tried it two times, once with the zip files and again with the unzipped file. I refreshed the page each time. This is in Safari.

I can report the exact same behaviour in Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

What I've noted is that trying to upload a zipped file, no network activity is triggered and the text in the upload box changes from: - Drag and Drop a zipped dSYM here to upload. to: - Drag and Drop a ZIP of a dSYM to upload

Trying to upload an unzipped dSYM file, it's only uploading 103 bytes and then says it's an invalid format.

Hi,

I seem to be able to reproduce this in Firefox 29, but it works for me in Safari 7.0.4 and Chrome 35.0.1916.114.

I'll dig further into it and update you.

dSYM is failing to upload for me too.

  • Using the mac app to detect and upload a dSYM, does't seem to work. It says successful, however nothing appears in the dSYM centre.

  • Compressing the dSYM and uploading via the web doesn't work.

  • Submitting an uncompressed version of the dSYM by web doesn't work either.

On Safari 8.0, running Yosemite 10.10

The following is what happens when I try to upload through the web. Which is rendered right in the browser.

Hi Punters,

We are able to reproduce this issue by uploading very large dSYMs. What is the size of the dSYM you are trying to upload (both compressed and uncompressed sizes)? We will be working on a solution to this early next week.

2.5mb compressed 8.0mb uncompressed

Just tested this in chrome, same thing happening. I'll do some searching and see if I can reduce the size. What's a good target to aim for?

EDIT: Is this even possible?

8MB uncompressed is quite small and I'd expect it to work. I'll investigate this further next week. If you don't mind, could you send the dSYM to jason@mindscape.co.nz to help with debugging this issue?

Yeah that's no problem. I managed to get a dSYM sent through an another app. It was 200kb or something.

I'll send it through!

The issue with uploading dSYMs has been resolved. This will work when uploading through the site as well as using the Raygun Sidekick.

Thanks heaps for the quick turn around! Yeah, our upload speed isn't all that great.

Will test this out today.

EDIT: Works perfectly now.
