Dev environment setup

In our team, we have multiple developers, a QA environment, a Staging environment and a production environment. Is there a recommended way to configure logging so that each of these environments is separated? Is the only way to do it with different "applications"?

Currently creating separate applications with different API keys is indeed the recommended way to get environment support. We realise this is not ideal though!
