How do I search?

I have a lot of errors, I have a specific user who's having a problem...
How the heck do I find him? He could be in any one of the "groups" and the paging next, next, next is driving me nuts
Am I missing this somewhere?

Hi Steve,
You mean like the search box on the right hand bar at the top? That should do the trick :-)
We're also pushing out some more improvements to search so let me know if you have any issues.
Cheers,

Hi Steve,
Close! But a little more right.
(As an aside, we clearly need to improve the visibility of search as you're not the only person who's missed it entirely - it must blend in too well).
Kind regards,
John-Daniel

...oh son of a bitch you're right.
I would expect it to be in the right pane itself, not above the commands!

:-D Like I said, you're not the only one to have missed it. We're thinking about where to move it so it's more obvious.
Also, when you do a search, it will show the groups, but if you then click through to those groups it will only show the instances that match the search query you provided (so if you have 1000 instances, but only 2 matched your query, you'd only see those two instances).
I hope that helps Steve!

Hmm, it's not searching my custom data eh...

At the moment there are several keywords you can prepend to your query to search only those properties. These are:
version
machinename
url
message
impacteduser
exceptiontype
stacktrace
innererror
customtags
customdata
That last one will allow you to search your custom data. For instance the query (without the quotes):
"customdata: foo"
will match all error groups that have a value of 'foo' in their custom data.
We realize this feature is fairly undocumented at the moment, however there's a bunch of search improvements coming up this week so I'll be sure to complete the documentation for this.
With these changes, search should be more forgiving and relevant, and will support partial queries that match email addresses, partial camel case matching, and other improvements. I will let you know when this feature is out the door.

Well...I mean that's great if I want to search a SPECIFIC thing...but what if I want to search everything for "derek.wong@medportal.ca"...
Like he might exist in form fields, custom data, etc etc. I shouldn't have to do custom searches, just if I want to filter down to ONLY custom data...
Know what I mean?

Yup we do, and the search improvements mentioned above will index all fields once it is deployed later this week, meaning that your generic search will return error groups if a query token is located in the custom data field etc. As above, I will let you know when this is live.

Hi Steve,
Just letting you know that the search improvements are now live and are applied to errors received since yesterday. Custom data etc is now included in regular searches without the prefix, amongst other changes that are listed on the Raygun blog. Hope this improves your Raygun experience.

Okay so I see 2 issues
1) The results in the search are not sorted by date 2) Trying to sort the table by time occurred does nothing

Raygun has now been updated with fixes for these two issues - the search results list is now sorted by date on page load, and the column sorting now works correctly for the message, occurred on and count properties.
