Cannot merge errors

Dear Raygun support team - You recently made a change for us where one of our applications (Create) is grouped by message name, which is awesome.

However, we had a bunch of errors come in where we weren't standardizing the error message being passed to your application, and as a result ended up with a bunch of unique errors.

We went to merge them, and we could merge some, but not all. When we tried to merge them, it threw an error.

We've done this before in other cases, but never encountered this persistent error.

Can you please take a look? The error message begins with "Error: exception 'WindowsAzure\Common\ServiceException' with message 'Fail: Code: 404"

... Also, I requested that ALL our applications be grouped by message name, and I don't believe this has been done yet. If that could also be enabled, that would be great.

Thanks.

Hi Tory,

We have now surfaced the grouping options in the Application Settings page - you can enable message-based grouping at the bottom of that page, for each language that the application has received as you see fit.

Note however that this exact use-case is the reason we don't default to message-based - as you have noticed any instance-specific data in the message produces duplicate groups. We aim to keep the error group counts to a minimum and group as many instances in as few groups as possible automatically, thus trying the latest version of the stacktrace-based grouping for the appropriate language should produce a better experience. This will also alleviate the need to manually merge groups.

With regards to the error you encountered while manually merging, I have not been able to locate an instance of this occurring so far but if you could provide an exact or rough timestamp of when the action occurred (inc. timezone) I can take a look at this further for you.
