v2 iOS SDK Crash on iPad 2 on Launch

We upgraded the Raygun iOS SDK from 1.6 to 2.1 today and now the app crashes on startup on the iPad 2 running iOS 7. We get the same crash with the 2.0 SDK. It works fine on all our other devices. I attached a stack trace.

Are there any workarounds to this?

Hi Tom,

I have not been able to get a hold of an iPad 2 running iOS 7, so haven't been able to reproduce the problem. Does the same problem occur when using an iPad 2 running iOS 8.x? Unfortunately I won't be able to look at solving this until I'm able to reproduce this. For now the 2 options would be to continue using the older version of Raygun4iOS, or upgrade the iPad 2 to use iOS 8.x (obviously not an option if this will be a user concern that you can't control).

Hi Jason, thanks for the quick reply. We don't currently have an iPad 2 with iOS 8 so I'm not sure if that configuration is also affected or not. You should be able to reproduce the crash with a service like https://appthwack.com.

The stack trace looks similar to the issue reported in https://raygun.io/forums/thread/8463 so I wonder if they're related.

Thanks for the link Tom,

Looks like AppThwack has been acquired by Amazon, and currently only supports Android devices. I'll look into this again later, or find another service when I can.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for checking it out, and unfortunate to hear that iOS is no longer supported. It's like TestFlight all over again! I'll keep an eye out for any similar services and will be curious if you get any other reports of issues with the iPad/iOS7.

Getting same issue here. Crash on startup with the same stack trace on iPhone 4S devices running iOS 7.0.x

So far our workaround has been to disable Raygun for any devices running 7.0.x

Interesting, since the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 use the same A5 processor.
