Mark Errors As Resolved In Specific Versions

Hilary CookProduct Updates2 Comments

When fixing bugs its usual to have multiple versions of your software running so it can be un-helpful to continue to receive notifications about errors re-occurring in older versions.

To combat this we released a much requested feature late last week, allowing you to resolve errors as at a specific version for your application – it was great to see some of you discover this over the weekend!

You now have the choice of marking an error as resolved as before, or resolving it and indicating the version it was fixed in. If you indicate a specific version we will only raise a “reoccurred” event if the version for the occurrence is newer than the version you indicated it was fixed in.

You’ll find this new option in the three places you can currently change status, on the group list on the application dashboard, from the search results lists and from the error dashboard.

For both the application dashboard and search results page the option is under the Change Status menu:

From the error dashboard you can find the option in the drop down in the header on the right hand side:

Choosing to ‘Resolve in Version..’ provides you with an auto-complete search box to quickly find the version you’re looking for, or you enter an arbitrary version – for example if you have just built the version containing the fix.

So in just a few clicks you can easily mark the group as resolved, specify the version it was resolved in and then move on to fixing the next issue.

We hope you enjoy this update and keep on zapping bugs in ALL versions of your applications!

When entering an arbitrary version do I need to enter all the parts, or can I just say resolved in version 1.9 or resolved in version 2 even if most versions are always in the format 1.8.5

      Hi Murray,

Sorry for the late response. If you haven’t already been informed, the behavior you mentioned will work as you mention. eg. resolving for version 2 will work even if your typical errors are reported in the form 1.8.5.
